I’ve been reading Plato’s The Republic and I had my LLM help me figure out why it’s being compared to Christianity:
The Tripartite Soul
Plato mirrored his ideal city within the individual human psyche, dividing the soul into three competing parts: Reason, Spirit (emotion/courage), and Appetite (basic biological desires).
A just, healthy, and happy individual is one whose Reason, supported by Spirit, successfully governs the Appetites.
