I had to ask because I recently got into an argument over this very topic. It was with someone who wants both an end to collectivism and yet wants racial identity and supposedly wants strong families. Any form of group identity is, at its core, collectivist. When you go from I to We, you are engaging in collective thought, because the term is an umbrella for a range of ideas. It's also one of those things, like socialism, that marxists purposely muddied to facilitate slipping their ideology into the conversation.
