Presumably you're counting only 'heavy' rail, to some extend Caltrain and Bart are "inter-city" because they connect the cities along the Peninsula down to Gilroy and out of the east Bay out to Livermore.
The Amtrak Coast Starlight connects San Diego to LA to SF to points north.
I'm curious how thin your margins have to be to quit rather than rebuild a pier.
