They don’t need to have a perfect finish, since I’ll be spraying enamel paint onto them and engraving designs long as they’re the right dimensions.
They do need to be flat, because the canon pinion (where the hands sit) is only about a millimeter tall - however, the chapter ring (which is where the indicators for minutes appears) will be holding the dial in place, so i agree it might not matter.
