This was "moderate sedation", which basically amounted to something that felt a lot like a heavy edible or being rather drunk. I felt very slow and dazed, and like they were really rushing and I couldn't respond well to what was happening, but I could read the numbers and watch the gooey stuff happening on the screen. They could see I was reacting to the pain, and gave me occasional instructions, but didn't bother to tell me what was going on or what to expect next. I guess a lot of people might rather not know, but I think next time I'll warn people I'd REALLY prefer to have complete narration. Okay, thanks for warning me that electrode is gonna be cold, good to know, but WHERE EXACTLY IS THAT HAND GOING TO PUT IT EXCUSE ME HEYNOW

I guess maybe the sedation is mainly trying to stop people from just panicking? I dunno, I don't think I have typical reactions to some drugs.

My mother did not handle the moderate sedation for hers very well AT ALL, but she doesn't even drink so any inebriation whatsoever was an alien experience for her.
