Kahlil Gibran wrote 'The Prophet' in under one day, but it took him 11 years to finish it.
How?
In a 1930s interview with a small Alabama newspaper, Gibran admitted that each of the 26 chapters took just 30 minutes to write. Less than one full day of writing in total.
One by one, they flowed out as fully formed and beautifully expressed life lessons. But it wasn't quick.
The lessons, work, and inspiration which formed the chapters arrived slowly. He first started work on the book in 1912, and it was finally published in 1923.
Deep meaning must be lived and processed.
This can take a whole life. The click of a button after a few simple prompts creates the illusion of meaning.
I'm rereading this short book of wisdom over 100 years after it was published. All the lessons still apply.
Because truth is timeless.
