We are living in a world that places a high value on wealth, fame and prestige. It doesn’t help that television and movies give people a false sense of what happiness is all about. We watch our favorite characters jet set to exotic vacations, wear designer clothes, drive fancy cars and live the life of luxury. Without even realizing it, the desire is implanted in our minds to have all those things we don’t have! But here lies the danger: we can be so focused on getting what we “think we want” that we lose sight of the blessings we already have! Keeping our minds set on earthly goals is Satan’s plan to distract us from our “heavenly goal.” As long as we measure “happiness” in terms of obtaining “the impossible dream” - we will never be happy, nor will we be preparing to spend eternity with our Savior! The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:11, “I have learned to be content with whatever I have.” Instead of wishing for a bigger house, a position of power or even a better family - learn to be content with what God has already given, and discover the blessing of contentment!
