The idea that a mascot must always be an animal is something corporate institutionalized because people are the consumers. Any idea that a mascot could be a person is usually shunned also things change nothing stays the same forever. A purple ostrich mascot forever that would be tyrrany.
People use the network not animals so it only makes sense to have the mascot be a person.
