It's wild, because it feels like it's trying to be Futuristic™, but the political structure (insofar as it even maps to anything IRL) feels resolutely rooted in the last century. Or something.
It was so weird, bc the power dynamic seemed like the inverse of what we're seeing today. Only, uh, sideways. Or something.
Does the original book hang together any better? (No, I am not going to read it myself to find out.)
