Again, as a noob in danger of making a fool of myself, I caught a glimpse of the issue of who maintains/funds the relays. This is serious, nostr needs direction and unity, community funded shit and community benefits without tribalism, more than checks from big names—not an expert but I’ve heard of opensats, hrf, and the people who give them their money.
Then you have the issue of censorship, I believe, for which I quote a guy saying, “…no one is censored… WoT, mutes, and reports can be an active defense for the individual while user-respecting inbox relays can passively enhance the reader experience for all parties.” Making information hard to find or selectively visible can have the same effect as censorship and limits interactions between people. It’s infantilizing people just like the state does when claiming age verification protects children online. It is somewhat funny to click on a post and have a submenu hiding replies from other users—this is what freaking YouTube does to limit comment reach for many videos. Nostr is meant to be an alternative but it mimics features of other social media dumpster apps.
