Lol, the "credit was money" pushed by communist historical revisionists was never serious. Sure, various local trades have a variety of conveniences and layers but without a hard settlement system you do not have the technology of money. And without that technology only the most primitive society of possible.

Money is a hard settlement system, one network on which any asst or thing of value can be traded with finality. Silver was that. Credit was not. Credit had to be settled in Silver. Chinese merchants were not shipping silk on the silk road for bar tab credit, they sent it for hard cold silver.

Silver was money. Everything else was at best a layer on top.

And the network effect is observable object reality. Calling it "desperate" is in fact desperate. Why be so desperately opposed to basic economics? Are you so deeply invested in decrepit shitcoins that you cannot accept reality?

Fear not, basic economics will drive their value to zero inevitably, as it has done for over a decade now. then you will be cured of that problem.
