Exactly. Virtue has nothing to do the equation….that was the point of the post.
As for your last concern….the subsidy/block reward has been “fading” right on schedule since the beginning. And will continue to until 2140. Should tx fees not pick up the slack in a century, then the network will (and should!) fail.
The chance of that happening, IMO, is very close to zero 😉
