Being an artist makes no sense, and I say this knowing I cannot not be an artist (I've tried).
1. You work your skills, which is hard.
2. You put those skills to the service of something that makes sense to you, which is hard to figure out.
3. You create something, you have to find someone in the world who wants it and it's willing to pay what you ask for. Which might be the hardest part.
4. Then you ship it, and you pray for it to arrive undamaged and safely. You have no power over this. You can create the perfect box for the piece, and someone can still decide it's a good idea to drill holes into it.
