Pacman is amazing, package build is a great format. What is better? (not debs or rpms that's for suuuure) and DEF not nix. Those guys went full "mah functional programming stuff". But, that being said if all you need is a server and very few packages then debs and rpms are OK because you don't have to use them, you can run a container.
