⚡️🇳🇵 NEW - Death toll from Nepal-China border floods rises to at least 362, with more than 1,300 missing
At least 362 people have been killed and more than 1,300 remain missing after catastrophic flash floods tore through the Himalayan border region between Nepal and China, according to Nepali police and Chinese state media.
The disaster struck on August 26 in Nepal’s Rasuwa district, about 120 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu, when a collapse of glacial ice and rock sent a wall of water, mud, and debris through mountain communities, sweeping away entire villages, homes, roads, and bridges.
Among the missing are hundreds of foreigners, including pilgrims and tourists from roughly two dozen countries. China’s foreign ministry said nearly 100 Chinese nationals were among those unaccounted for in Nepal.
The toll has been rising rapidly as rescuers attempt to reach cut-off areas, with communication lines down across the region. (DropSite)
