Gold has already shown the playbook of how this plays out. Bitcoin is still in the very first leg and you can already see the incentives are driving it to enormous paper markets. I agree with you on wanting a better world for our kids, it’s why I save in Bitcoin for mine as well. And it’s very convenient that yes you can spend it and I have for years P2P for lots of goods and services. But it’s easy to see the incentives and that it is going to take the same path as gold. I’m not sure how familiar you are with the freehold thesis but it was extremely similar to the bitcoin thesis. Satoshi and Another are similar characters. Bitcoin has properties that are better than gold. But let’s not assume the world cannot be a wonderful place and have local economies even without Bitcoin. I’ve lived around the Amish most of my life and they have been doing just fine and will continue to be fine. We both want Bitcoin to succeed I just don’t think it succeeds or should succeed as the medium of exchange for a global economy.
