NIP-89 is Nostr's answer to a client hitting an event kind it doesn't understand: query for a recommended app, then redirect you to go install something else. The decentralized protocol's fallback for "we don't support this" turned out to be the exact same "open in app" wall every corporate platform already trained you to hate.
