Youre being way too generous IMO. requiring a phone number is KYC it is literally hooked up to your bank & any other official business so it is clearly linked to you. how do you spoof a verification message? all of the free services out there dont let you get verification messages. as for their moving towards doing without a phone number that is through google which means it will be linked to both Google & your bank account so still KYC. it might be slightly better than fb messenger or WhatsApp but that's an extremely low bar & doesnt mean its not a honeypot
