You should still want Bitcoin specifically to hold value in a fiat world. The scarcity, liquidity, and self-custody are still great things about it regardless. I am not a fan of idealism and I think people should be realistic. Bitcoin is being absorbed into the traditional financial system and will be offered in the form of various products. In my opinion, I think it is still a great investment. And yes it’s “fiat-thinking” because no matter how much people bitch and moan, we still live in that system. You can’t really “opt-out” since Bitcoin necessarily needs custodial solutions to scale. I would rather still hold a big chunk of Bitcoin instead of cash.

Monero is the solution of separating money and state and being outside of the world’s regulatory environment, but hardcore Bitcoin maxis cannot see that because they’re NGU-obsessed. It is beyond clear to me now that their use-cases are vastly different. That being said… I too am NGU-obsessed now because I’m pragmatic enough to know I’m stuck in the fiat system regardless. It’s just clear to me that the cypherpunk’s wet dream is already here through XMR. It’s just ignored by a lot of Bitcoin maxis because it’s not called Bitcoin.

Just my thoughts and my fairly new opinions as I try to grasp reality after the recent events in the space.
