I just finished reading The Witchwood Crown by Tad Williams and enjoyed it very much. This is the first book in a new trilogy that follows on his series "Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn". It's 30 years later and Simon and Miriamelle are co-rulers who love each other very much and vex each other very much. I love the interplay between these two hard-headed people.
There are lots of egaging characters, old and new, and Williams does a good job giving events a feeling of consequence (and often dread).
