This is why I thought Proof of Stake would of been better than simply switching the mining algo. Or at least use Monero's algo.

The only type of hard fork I can think of that can 100% withstand a malicious miner attack is a hard fork to Proof of Stake. This would also punish people dumping the coin and incentivize people to keep hodling, and run a node.

Or if Proof of Stake is still somehow the greater evil at this point, what about merge mining with Monero's mining algo? We immediately get protection from Monero's battle tested eco-system.
