Yesterday, I warned conference attendees repeatedly that consumer M.2 drives were not to be trusted. Specifically, I emphasize their tendency to cook themselves in their own waste heat.

And the OEM cheap consumer M.2 in my laptop grenaded itself 2/3 of the way through the talk.

Several people told me they were sure it was a stunt and I was gonna pull a rabbit out of my hat. Nope.

But guess what? IT WAS PURELY THERMAL. Damn thing booted without even needing a journal recovery this morning!
