I keep with me an expired ID card, which I show to accomodation providers. It is real, so I am still identified, but at least no one can use it to take loans in my name if it leaks. I have never been denied because of it.

When possible, I look up phone numbers to a little private accomodation providers on google maps. I then book myself over the phone the old school way, bypassing the nosy middle man. Then I pay cash. Most of them appreciate it and sometimes do not even bother asking for a stupid ID. I get pleasure from knowing that they do not have to pay taxes from my money, if they chose not to.
