Bitcoin was trading near $76,236 on September 16 after losing roughly 4% in seven days and falling from an approximately $79,800 peak reached on September 11. The decline followed the U.S. Senate’s failure to advance the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act, which received 50 votes in favor and 49 against but needed 60. The bill would have clarified the oversight roles of the SEC and CFTC; its failure reduced the prospect of federal crypto market-structure legislation before the November midterm elections.
The Federal Reserve also raised its target rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4.00%, its first increase since 2023, adding pressure to a non-yielding, risk-sensitive asset. Bitcoin’s daily CMF fell to -0.11, while the four-hour Supertrend marks resistance near $78,600. A break below $75,000 could expose liquidation liquidity near $74,600 and moving-average support around $70,300-$71,900.
