Does science have philosophical underpinnings, or does philosophy have scientific underpinnings? Is there really an important difference between them? I see them as yin and yang in a lot of ways.
Of course we can't say for certain that anything we did not personally observe happened in the way we conjecture. Honestly the amount of time we waste fighting about which version of our origin story is correct is just a distraction from what we should be doing.
