It's reasonable to be a bit paranoid of automation taking away your jobs, but it's important to not forget about the effects long-term that arise from this: Higher standards of living thanks to innovation, cheaper costs, and more human needs that can be satisfied through the freeing up of labor to areas where it is more needed.
With that being said, it's understandable that it seems painful right now, but that is only because of the uncertainty created from licensing regimes, IP, etc. which prevents these benefits from happening in the first place.
