So, Denny Tamaki of Okinawa lost, huh? Completely deserved. Honestly, I’m amazed he managed to drag out that ideology-heavy administration for 8 years.
Okinawa’s history is incredibly complex and difficult, but to bridge the gap between the prefecture and the mainland, I really think moving forward with the times and focusing on economic development is what's best for Okinawa's future. In reality, Tamaki’s time in office had basically zero notable achievements. He just brought stagnation and exposed Okinawa to the threat of the CCP.
They say the CCP is gearing up for a Taiwan invasion in 2027 to mark the 100th anniversary of the People's Liberation Army. Because of that, a change in leadership at the prefectural level right now is massively significant. A Taiwan contingency is a Japan contingency.
It’s depressing and a stark reminder of human stupidity that wars are still happening all over the place in the 21st century. But at the end of the day, it's vital for Japan to protect what it needs to protect.
Anyway, time to go build a social media platform that bypasses the Great Firewall *picks nose*
