Fun fact for non-German folk here: Today, the citizens of Berlin are about to elect The Left party to rule the city (yeah, literally the renamed Socialist Unity Party of Germany from before 1989, shooting at people trying to climb over the wall). As some who was raised and grew up exactly behind that wall, the Stockholm syndrome has always amazed me. It is not a coincidence that Berlin is also the unofficial capital of BDSM.
