About:
BitDevs Accra is Ghana’s technical Bitcoin developer community and part of the global BitDevs network. It brings together developers, researchers, students, and technical enthusiasts who want to go beyond price talk and study how Bitcoin actually works.
The group is Bitcoin-only. Meetups typically follow the BitDevs Socratic seminar format: organizers and members curate topics from protocol changes, BIPs, research papers, open-source repositories, and developer tools, then discuss them in an open, question-driven session.
Key Objectives:
1. Encourage Bitcoin protocol research and technical learning — Help members move from surface-level Bitcoin knowledge to a working understanding of consensus, transactions, blocks, cryptography, and current protocol debates.
2. Create a consistent space for Bitcoin development discussion — Host regular, Bitcoin-only meetups where developers can review research, challenge ideas, and stay close to what is happening in Bitcoin Core and related software.
3. Support open-source contribution — Give local builders a path from learning to contributing, including project walkthroughs, builder sessions, and connections to programs such as Btrust Builders.
4. Connect Ghanaian developers to the wider Bitcoin network — Link Accra’s technical community with other African BitDevs chapters and the global Bitcoin developer ecosystem.
5. Strengthen Ghana’s Bitcoin developer community — Grow a durable local hub of developers, students, and technical Bitcoiners who can learn together, collaborate, and keep building in Ghana.
