one of the issues with infosec generally is that the normalization of puffery - posturing that your product is The Best - combined with exaggeration of threats results in a meaningful level of disinformation being fed to the public.
and that issue is exacerbated by the ai bros significantly - openai's "hack" of huggingface was not meaningfully sophisticated nor a sea-change in the 'cyber posture'; huggingface was -that incompetent- that a reasonably careful 14 year old could have done the trick.
or a trained monkey, if someone set up metasploit for it.
