NASA will provide live coverage of the planned launch and docking of Russia’s uncrewed Progress 96 cargo spacecraft. The vehicle is scheduled to lift off on a Soyuz rocket from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 12:15 p.m. EDT on September 9. It will carry about three tons of food, fuel, and supplies for the crew aboard the International Space Station.
Progress 96 is expected to travel for two days and autonomously dock with the space station’s Poisk module at 2:37 p.m. EDT on September 11. It will remain attached for about five months before departing for a planned destructive re-entry over the Pacific Ocean. The resupply mission supports continuous ISS operations and the research conducted in low Earth orbit.
