So, I figured out the mechanic working on my car PROBABLY hates that system too, instead of using it to give me updates on the car he just is calling me direct. Not going to be cheap, but my brake calipers worn out at 195,000 miles. (apparently they should have been replaced awhile ago, lol... never been replaced, factory original). Mechanic was apologetic about the recommendation, because replacing them is not cheap... but I have no problem with paying vehicle maintenance, though it will be interesting to see if the rest of the vehicle will get to 200,000 miles. (on the "do it yourself note": because I never have replaced brake calipers and probably never would do them again, and they are a safety item, happy to have someone who does them a lot do the work for me. That said, if one of you was an auto enthusiast and would be happy to look over my shoulder in person, there's a lot of stuff I'd LOVE to try doing myself... ).
