It's not just BBC unfortunately. An absolute majority of "AI haters" (or whatever term they are referring to themselves) don't know the difference. A very large majority of posts I see on Fediverse are considering any sort of ML "bad", without understanding how much ML in involved in their daily life, from weather forecast to survival analysis in cancer treatment.
I've been cirsed on fedi because I'm applied ML scientist working on cancer and Type 1 Diabetes!
