The first attempt turned out to be corruptible, but I agree with you that Satoshi had the right idea and all we had to do was not screw it up. It may take a few more iterations to get it right. Maybe Luke and Mechanic can do it, or maybe it will be left to others. Satoshi gave us the concept, we just need to correctly implement. I don't think that's Bitcoin in its current form, but we don't need to start from scratch and that gives us a big advantage.
