Here we go… one of my finest works in this territory and

Roots grow up to 6 metres deep, roughly 1m a year so it’s an absolute no brainer on inclined lands such as ours.
Where lands have been degraded due to cow farming and mono cropping, Vetiver provides quick action root growth and an insane amount of organic material to keep providing nutrition for the soil.
When planted in contour you basically start to capture and store every drop of rain on the mountain, zero run off, meaning no loss of top soil, it all backs up against the Vetiver.
I have spent the best part of 2 years planting out Vetiver across my land.
We have just come out of a very dry 6 months, hardly any rain. At the start of September it kind of started again but still doesn’t feel like a real rainy season yet. What I observed is my cacao plantation was about 80% successful in withstanding the drought, whereas my neighbour who does not have Vetiver and like me was not able to get water to the trees during this time, he lost closer to 90% of his trees planted at the same time. There’s some other factors involved in this too, like love, attention and care but for me this was a great signal that Vetiver plants water so deep that it helps the land become drought resistant.
It looks beautiful too!
Today I am harvesting from one of my original lines planted 2 years ago which is cool because now I don’t need to go out and buy more seeds, the system is supporting itself now, and I am planting around the house on the ridge to protect it from all the run off from the roof when it rains.
I love this life! I love this work!
