The pattern you see is that the red line (standard PPP GDP) is more or less poorly or even negatively correlated with consumer sentiment, while yellow (our GDP/commodity) moves strongly with consumer sentiment, so that our GDP strongly reflects people's "experience" of the economy at least in these big western type countries.
