One of my favorite posters cuban (npub17nv…4u85) is taking a break from Nostr due to the nihilism. That bums me out. I'm in the same boat. This place is depressing sometimes. Cull your follows. Check in once a week, but don't bail on it completely!
I think what we need are some topical Nostr accounts. I was thinking of creating some. Like maybe an account to discuss the latest episode of "Below Deck," or maybe an account that answers questions about Ad Blocking, or one that talks about how to set up and maintain a transactional relationship with someone hot, or one that reviews radar detectors or electric vehicles, or how to find things to do after retiring. I'm an expert in all of these topics and none of them are depressing or nihilistic.
Yesterday, I was thinking how much knowledge I've accumulated over fifty-three years on how to avoid greeters and aggressive handshakers in church. I've never really shared it with anyone before. I even have diagrams. I could create AI videos illustrating strategies and whatnot.
I just think if each of us created one Nostr account about something we're interested in (other than Bitcoin) we could create a really fun, quirky, engaging decentralized platform.
