Man, you need to read some Carl Menger and The Origin of Money.
Almost all of the people arguing one side or another do.
Becoming money is a process, its not declared - otherwise it would be fiat.
This means it goes through stages: store of value, medium of exchange, then unit of account. This process does not happen at the speed of adoption, but rather the speed of which old money is driven out. Gresham's Law, basically.
If something is superior money, you'll hold onto it and sell the bad money first. This is common sense.
And there's a *shit ton* of bad money that needs to be sold, first.
And this process is well underway, as bitcoin as a Store of Value isn't even questioned anymore. As a Medium of Exchange? It's never been easier to use bitcoin than it is now. Try going back 10 years ago! But does it compare to fist? Not even close. But much better than it did 10, or 5 years ago. And getting better with every orange pilling that happens.
So there isn't two scoreboards. There is one *process*. People need to read more about money before they start arguing for changing the base layer. Bitcoin is *sprinting* through this process, but it will never beat "by decree", which is instant. People need to stop comparing bitcoin to fiat.
