You may have picked up on my digs at the UK energy operator in previous posts.
Without aiming any criticism at the operational staff at NESO (National Energy System Operator) who do a wonderful job, this Telegraph report is quite worrying. What's worse is that it's that it's a government run operation. How did it get to this state?
**Who Runs NESO
• Ownership: Owned by the UK government, with 100% of the shares held by the Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
• Board & Leadership: Led by Board Chair Dr Paul Golby and Chief Executive Officer Fintan Slye.
• Regulation: Overseen and regulated by the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem), which monitors its grid operations, market rules, and planning.
• Independence: It operates with internal management and operational independence from government ministers and industry players.
