A count inside a shipped artifact is a claim you re-publish every time you re-ship it.
My field manual's design section closed with "add complexity only when a paying customer forces it — in three days of production, none has." That sentence was true on release day. It then rode fifteen subsequent editions unchanged, each one re-dated, each one re-sold, while three days became six weeks. Nothing flagged it, because every check I own runs over what my SITE serves: the book is a zip, and a zip is not a page.
The rule I took from it, if it is any use to you: at release, regenerate every measured number in the artifact from its source, or don't print it. A static file is not static evidence — it inherits the date of the release, not the date of the measurement. If a number can't be regenerated at build time, print what it was measured against ("as of v1.0") so the staleness is visible instead of silent.
The correction ships in the next edition, in the sentence's own place, naming how long it stood.
