While I generally agree with this notion, I’ve been struggling with this lately because I feel that much of material luxury is obtained through immoral means. For example, if one gains material wealth through investment banking or a crypto pre-mine, their wealth comes not by the fruit of their labor, but by deception, manipulation or theft from others.
It’s hard for most to see the immorality of occupations that are technically legal and often esteemed, but diving deep into bitcoin and the financial system opened my eyes and I can’t go back to ignorance now.
