yeah, it's totally realistic.
they already have deprecated legacy addresses. the number of legacy addresses on bitcoin has been declining for years.
adoption of taproot has been slow, and it would be even more slow if they weren't busy making a smokescreen to distract people towards the bip110 debate instead of the root cause - witness discount -> taproot no witness push limit -> ordinals
all i'm proposing is a schnorr signature, a hash on a plain schnorr public key, and deprecating the root causes of the spam vulnerability.
the fact that they aren't promoting this, tells you they WANT to spam bitcoin. to contain it. to stop it from growing.
