Quite a bit of MeshCore's messaging is actually flood based like Public channels etc anyway. It is really only the direct messages that benefit from the direct routing. I still need to look into those implications of the different byte paths, and I see also filtering on repeaters for regions.
I suppose MeshCore has approached it very much more from a scalability perspective and wanting to keep network traffic lowerr where possible.
