Because Bitcoiners keep creating ever shifting goal posts than fixing the underlying fundamental problem.
Alt-coiner: L1 is slow, inconsistent, and high fee.
Bitcoiner: Use lighting.
Alt: Lighting has Centralization issues.
Bit: Set it up using Self-Hosting.
Alt: Lightning is complex to set up in a self hosted manner.
Etc., Rinse, Repeat, Cashu, Liquid, etc.
Most people don’t have $10,000+ just to setup one lightning channel, start9, watchtowers, channel liquidity, etc.
And that just for one channel.
Most people use hosted solutions like strike, WoS, cash, river, etc. because they have 24/7 teams, whereas self hosting, you’re in El Salvador about to buy some food, or a plane ticket home with lightning, & your wife/cat/kid accidentally unplugs your watchtower, or channel node, and there goes your channel status.
Now you’re stuck in El Salvador, and the only way to get home is hope that someone near your house has the technical knowledge to get your channel back up, assuming they just won’t rug you themselves knowing you’re not home to stop them.
