Donald Sutherland has died. All I can say is that the success of Nicolas Roeg’s “Don’t Look Now” (1973)—the most terrifying film I’ve ever seen, and one of the most moving, in ways that are inextricable—depended as much on Sutherland’s towering performance of grief, terror, and love as on Roeg’s tour-de-force visual vocabulary. Julie Christie was good. Sutherland was transcendent. I know what I’ll be watching this weekend—again—in his memory. #DonaldSutherland
