One conspiracy theorist/ex-KGB Dimitri Khalezhov explains that the size of the twin towers required a demolition plan before construction could begin. His theory states that a tunnel existed between WTC 7 and the towers for remotely positioning bombs beneath them. His videos/book are pretty consistent across the board. I don't agree with every detail but for the most part he lays out a lot of rationality.
Architects of the actual tower have also mentioned on multiple occasions that the towers were rated well above their expected capabilities. In terms of weight load especially. They were over engineered.
And the common theme you will hear is that the towers were poorly designed.
WTC 7 did have some construction caveats but in terms of collapsing every study lies. Which is what the OP was about. NIST lies, Popular Mechanic lies, A&E 9/11 lies, the University of Alaska lies.
And don't even get me started on Daniel fucking Lewin.
