Signal gets a lot of hate but actually it's the best strike we've got between privacy and convenience. There's no way I could get everyone I know to use SimpleX but Signal is practically no problem.
What I love is their whole sealed sender thing amongst many other clever measures to reduce meta data. Signal don't know who you message and this is how it should be!!
They're a non-profit who's main goal is to create a great, private and secure messaging app. No they're not perfect but they do a bloody good job and I respect them for that.
P.S if you're on Android and a splash more technical use a hardened client called Molly, it's open source and amazing!!
