If you’re looking for one specific topic, you can search for it today using keywords. It does a very good job of filtering out content authored by bad actors without being a popularity contest.
We’re slowing introducing Tags as a separate way to find content. The first way (currently implemented) is to search for keyword match from within the content. Tags are authored by someone else. For example: I can Tag you as a Podcaster (works today), or Tag your kind 30023 long form article as Decentralized Health (work in progress) if that’s what it’s about, and if your search string matches a Tag, you’ll see the profiles or articles that were Tagged by verified accounts.
