Framework spouts nonsense about how you should have full control over your device, but how can I have 100% control with a proprietary BIOS/UEFI?
Also, I honestly don't get the hype over their expansion cards. I have a ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11, with the same “standard” set of ports...
My keyboard is definitely better (I compared it to the Framework Gen 1; I don’t know how it is now).
And whether it’s the X1 Carbon Gen 11 or the Framework - both have proprietary BIOS/UEFI. By the way, the BIOS/UEFI on the ThinkPad X1 is really cool, and you can disable a lot of unnecessary stuff there.
When I was buying my laptop, I thought about getting a Framework, but the whole story with the closed discussion on their forum and other nonsense turned me off them.
I’m not a fan of any brand. Blind fanaticism has a bad effect on the market and prices. But what Framework keeps doing - telling non-techies fairy tales about freedom - without Coreboot makes no sense to me.
My laptop totally satisfies me in terms of performance, but I don’t like the battery life. The keyboard is just fantastic. My point is that the Framework (the main model, I don’t need their Chromebook) without Coreboot makes no sense.
