I've tried this. It's actually a great filtering mechanism.

When political discussions come up, for example, I say in all honesty that I have zero loyalty or sense of civic duty, and my goal is to contribute as little as possible to the system, while extracting as much as I can. I occasionally get some pearl clutching and righteous virtue signaling in response, but I also encounter others who go, "Yeah. Totally makes sense. Let's talk strategy."

Told a hot girl once that I'd be a shit romantic partner or lover, but I'd make a great friend. And indeed we're still friends decades later.

I think some people appreciate the honesty. Maybe not the honesty per-se, but just the fact that one truly knows themselves and is direct and open about their strengths, weaknesses, goals, and desires -- it's refreshing in some people's eyes.
